Las Vegas—A bevy of celebrities and professional poker players gathered in Las Vegas earlier this month for the second annual "Ante Up for Africa," a Texas Hold'em charity game held to raise money for victims of the crisis in Sudan's
Darfur region.
The event was founded last year by poker pro Annie Duke, actor/director Don Cheadle and Norman Epstein with the hope of raising awareness of the humanitarian disaster that still continues in Darfur today.
To take part in the game, attendees paid a $5,000 buy-in. The winner, pro poker player
John Hennigan of Philadelphia, won $136,860 and donated it all back to charity.
Hennigan didn't go home empty-handed though:
Corum, the official timepiece and bracelet supplier for the World Series of Poker, presented him with a specially engraved Corum "Romvlvs" timepiece.
