Timex appoints new senior VP

Middlebury, Conn.—Timex Group B.V. has announced the appointment of Kathleen Walas as senior vice president of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility, effective immediately. Walas will report directly to Timex Group B.V. President and Chief Executive Officer Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard. In this newly created position, Walas will oversee Timex Group worldwide corporate branding, public relations, social responsibility issues, corporate communications and employee communications. Wales will also be responsible for philanthropic leadership of the Timexpo Museum and the company's other charitable activities, as well as coordination of the company's global brand programs to increase awareness and enhance the reputation of the Timex Group family of brands. Walas has extensive experience in communications strategy, brand positioning and philanthropic planning. She joins Timex Group from Jaks Cove Inc., a consulting practice she founded that specializes in business development programs rooted in communications, branding, social responsibility and other marketing disciplines. Previously, she served as president of the Avon Foundation, concurrently serving as the first-ever corporate social responsibility officer at Avon Products Inc. She held several leading roles in corporate affairs and public relations during her tenure at Avon. "We are pleased to welcome Kathleen to Timex Group," Hoejsgaard said in a media release. "With her successful track record in developing and executing landmark programs spanning corporate affairs, philanthropy and public relations, we know her contributions to our growing company will help define our continued success as a leader in our industry." Timex Group, founded in 1854, manufactures and markets watches under numerous brands in different market segments, including Timex, Timex Expedition, Timex Ironman, TX, GC, Guess, Marc Ecko, Opex, Nautica, Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, Versace and Vincent Berard.
