September 30, 2008
Miami Beach, Fla.—Centurion Jewelry by Invitation Only and the American Watch Guild have released the speaker and session lineup for the International Watch Conference at Centurion South Beach. The invitation-only show will take place from Oct. 15-18 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The event will offer nine hours of educational seminars. "The conference program was created from the enthusiastic input of top retailers who are focused on building their watch business through in-store branding and marketing strategy," Centurion President Howard Hauben said in a media release. "We will take a closer look at both highly controversial money-making topics and general education topics for increasing watch sales and profits." Fred Levin, chief executive officer of The LGI Network, will kick off the sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with a seminar titled "What's Selling and Where? An Overview of the American Watch Market." Also that day, leading retailers and watch brand representatives will speak on "How to Select a New Watch Brand" and "What's Hot, New and Exciting from Top Watch Manufacturers and Conference Speakers." Oct. 16 will feature "The Timepiece Battleground" and "How to Market Women's Watches," and Oct. 17 will include seminars on how to take advantage of the trade-in or vintage watch business, as well as educating sales staff on how to sell watches. Finally, Saturday, Oct. 18 will include seminars on the quality and quantity of distribution of luxury watch brands, how to professionally operate a watch repair department and a session titled "Does Your Consumer Marketplace Perceive You as an Important Watch Retailer?" A portion of the proceeds from the Watch Conference will go toward the American Watch Guild effort to assist war veterans in becoming professional watch technicians. Invited retailers will receive up to four nights at Loews Miami Beach Hotel, as well as complimentary meals, social functions and leisure activities.
